Born and raised in Saint Joseph, I know this area like the back of my hand. From riding my bike up and down the boulevard as a kid, to swimming in the lakes as a teen, to walking the bluffs while hunting as an adult, I have great memories and a true fondness for my hometown.
One of the greatest gifts this town gave me was my beautiful wife and best friend, Stacey. We met when we were 15-year-old high schoolers, and got married immediately after graduation. Defying all odds, we recently celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary, and we still feel like we are newlyweds.
Our original family of two grew to five as we added three amazing children. They were a great investment because they multiplied, adding a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and six grandchildren to our family tree.
My professional career was really defined when I started at Farmland Industries in the spring of 1985. I worked faithfully at that location until they merged, changing my employer to Land O’ Lakes. There, I worked my way up the ladder until I reached the position of commodities trader, the title I have held for the last 30 years. It is an occupation that is filled with competitiveness, negotiating contracts, and high-stakes purchases. I learned quickly in that role that I was going to put my emphasis on relationships, and not sales. The people I was serving were more important to me than just closing a deal. This is a quality that has served me well through all of these years, knowing I didn’t just make clients, but friends.
As I got closer to the finish line of my career with Land O’ Lakes, I realized I was not going to be very good at sitting around being “retired”. I decided to start a second career and pursue the thing I had always been passionate about. The thing I felt like I had been training for my whole life. That thing was real estate.
Having purchased multiple homes myself throughout the years, I was fascinated by the whole process, from start to finish. I would find myself still driving around and checking out new listings, even though I was not even in the market to buy a house, myself. Lorrie Ramseier helped walk us through the purchase of our last two homes, and I quizzed her about every detail of the buying and selling of property. I thought a lot about how I wanted to do what she was doing, so as retirement got closer, I got my real estate license and joined the Ramseier Group. I knew it was a place where I would be allowed the privilege of, not just selling properties, but selling homes where joyful memories would be made and love would be shared.
Now, when I am not checking the housing market, driving around to see new listings, or mowing my grass, I enjoy fishing, smoking and grilling meat, and golf. I love sports and have been an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs since I was old enough to declare my allegiance.
