Working On Our Team
"No one can whistle a symphony. It takes a whole orchestra to play it." – H.E. Luccock
When it’s time for you to buy or sell a home, you want to know that you’re getting the best of teams to work for you.
At Ramseier Group of Keller Williams, we are always looking to add talented members to our team and help them develop. We always accept applications.
So whether you’re looking to buy or sell a home or are thinking about a career in real estate, we thought we would tell you about what makes our work culture special.
Below are some of the key takeaways. To watch the full discussion, check out the video above.
Growth Mindset
One thing that sets us apart is that we embody a growth mindset. What is a growth mindset?
It entails expanding our minds through things like reading books, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, going to seminars, and learning from other individuals.
A growth mindset is the opposite of a fixed mindset. Someone who has a fixed mindset means they’re closed off to changing and think to themselves, “This is how I always do it.” A fixed mindset is not open to growing.
But a growth mindset requires humility. You have to have the humility to say, “I don’t know everything, but I want to learn so I can get better.”
We believe a growth mindset is essential because if you’re not growing, you’re dying! But when you adopt this mindset, it’s exciting to see how you can grow as an individual!
Setting Goals
Growing is not a solo endeavor. It’s a team effort. One way we help each other grow is through goal-setting.
Before a new year begins, we take two days offsite to figure out what goals we want to hit in the next year. Once we’ve set those big goals, we start breaking them down into quarterly, monthly, and even weekly goals to help us achieve those big, yearly goals.
We love this time because it sets the tone for the whole next year. But we also set personal goals at this time as well.
When you work on our team, we want to help you become the person you want to become. When someone new joins our team, they may not be used to setting personal goals. Even though it’s challenging at first, it’s amazing to watch people come alive through the process of goal-setting as our team pours into one another.
We do our best to help make each individual teammate’s goals and dreams come true.
Why We Set Goals
When you start setting goals, you have to ask yourself, “Who do I want to be? What do I want to do? Why is this important? How will this impact my life for the better if I accomplish these goals? How will this impact my life for the worse if I don’t?”
Ultimately, we set these goals because we want to be the kind of people who impact other peoples’ lives for the better. We want to pour back into others. We want to pour into our team, our clients, and our community.
It’s important for us to be people who bring value to others.
Adapting Along the Way
Once we have our goals lined out, we have weekly one on one meetings to make sure we’re progressing how we need to be.
We step back and say, “Here’s where we’re at in the process. Where are you at with your goal? Are we making progress? Or are we falling behind?”
We also ask, “What challenges are you facing right now?” Because maybe we had set a goal, but then some unforeseen circumstance came up. So now we ask, “How can we adapt to this new situation?” Then we use that one on one meeting to brainstorm.
We use those times to figure out if individuals need help with any of their tasks or projects. This way, no one feels like they’re isolated and stuck when they run into problems.
Benefit of a Team
We have a team for a reason. You have to juggle a lot of balls when you buy or sell a house. So having a team makes sure that none of those balls get dropped.
Every person on our team brings something specific that makes us whole. We have staff in the office and agents who directly help our clients. This way, the agents can focus on what they need to focus on, and the office staff handle paperwork, manage our database, and do our marketing.
This makes us even better for our clients.
Excellence is in the details. Having a team ensures that we’re excellent in all areas.
The Spirit of an Entrepreneur
When you’re an agent, especially, you need an entrepreneurial spirit that is driven to provide this excellent service to our clients.
Another benefit of a team is that it provides an environment of guidance for this entrepreneurial spirit. Sometimes entrepreneurs are highly motivated to go, but this results in them going in a thousand different directions. But as a team, we can help that passionate drive go effectively in a single direction instead of all over the place.
This effective entrepreneurship makes us even more excellent; and if we aren’t reaching for excellence, we should give up! We always want to go beyond our clients’ expectations!
Resources and Support
Being a Keller Williams agent in St Joseph is an amazing opportunity. The training, tools, and resources available are the best in the business. Whether it’s in our office or in the Keller Williams office in Kansas City, we constantly have training so we can get better at what we do.
Our own team culture then funnels down from this larger Keller Williams culture.
If you get your real estate license and then try to work as an individual, it can be very difficult to get traction. There is a high percentage of solo agents who quit after their first year because of all the challenges they face.
But in a team setting, you can overcome those challenges. As a team, we support each other. You aren’t out there on your own. You have the support of our team and you have the support of Keller Williams as a whole.
Purpose
Everything we work for comes down to this: we are committed to helping people and making their dreams come true. We are genuinely passionate about that.
When you’re on our team, you get to put your specific skill set to use for achieving that purpose.
Before you even join our team, we ask, “What do you want to do? What are you passionate about working at? What skills do you want to grow in?”
There’s a lot of satisfaction being in a role that fits your skill set and is rewarding to you. This in itself gives you the feeling of purpose!
Some individuals love the relational aspect of being an agent. Other individuals love being detail-oriented with coordinating transactions. Others love the creativity that is involved with marketing. Still others like the management of people and systems.
Our office needs all of those roles to be filled. So everyone finds a place that best suits them and gives them the most satisfaction.
We strive to do each of our roles with integrity and to the best of our ability. Each of us gets excited to do our piece of the puzzle because it contributes to the whole picture. That’s an incredibly rewarding feeling!
